Commit Your Work

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established

As Christian fathers, we often find ourselves entangled in the complexities of life, juggling responsibilities, ambitions, and the desire to provide for our families. Yet, Proverbs 16:3 calls us to a beautifully simple truth: “Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.”

I confess, I’ve fallen prey to the tendency to complicate what should be straightforward. Pride and selfish desires have led me astray, causing me to prioritize my plans over God’s purpose for me. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle, thinking we know best, but the reality is, we need to commit our work to the Lord.

Acknowledging my own missteps, I’ve come to understand the importance of trust and obedience. While I may not fully comprehend God’s grand plan for my life, I’ve learned to trust Him and stay obedient to the best of my ability. Yes, I stumble, and yes, I falter, but the key is in remaining faithful to what the Lord has called me to do.

One crucial lesson has emerged from my journey: God doesn’t lay out the entire roadmap for us at once. It would be overwhelming. Instead, it’s a gradual unveiling, a journey where He trains and reveals things to us in His perfect timing. Each step is a lesson, each stumble an opportunity for growth.

So, fellow Christian fathers, let’s simplify our approach. Commit your work to the Lord—acknowledge His direction over your plans, ambitions, and daily tasks. In doing so, you open the door for His guidance and establish a foundation built on faith. Trust that, even when the path seems unclear, God is at work, shaping and molding you for the purpose He has uniquely designed for you. It’s a journey of faith, one step at a time, in obedience and trust.
